In the last century the "Eurasia Joint House" Association in Russia acclaimed Kim Jong Il who was wisely leading humankind toward the victory of the cause of independence as "Man of the Year, 1994" and the Development Supporting Association and the Development Promotion Association in Peru as "Man of the Year, 1997".

In the opinion poll held in the United States for selecting world's famous persons and deciding their ranking, most of the pollees put Kim Jong Il on the top of the list and defined his character as strict principle, superb diplomatic talent and outstanding commanding art.
An Internet site of China extolled Kim Jong Il, saying his decision and practical ability, humorous sense and talent were beyond the imagination of the West.
Kim Jong Il Chosen as Most Famous Leader by American Magazine
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The American magazine Time chose Kim Jong Il as the most famous leader in the world.
Publishing a list of men of the present times, the magazine selected Kim Jong Il as a renowned leader exercising the biggest influence in changing the world, according to an Ukrainian Internet News on May 7.

The paper said: Kim Jong Il, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has been elected General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea by the unanimous will and desire of the Korean people. The North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is a man of great leadership, remarkable wisdom and noble virtues. He is always with the popular masses sharing the ups and downs of life with them. Kim Jong Il, a new leader of the 21st century, will surely break fresh ground in the political, economic, military and diplomatic fields of Korea, succeeding excellently to the cause of the late President Kim Il Sung. Under the sub-headline "General Secretary Kim Jong Il's remarks on his policies" the paper reported about his credo. It quoted him as saying: "In the future we must reunify the country on the basis of the three charters for the country's reunification, no matter how the situation and circumstance may change." "We have no intention to regard the United States as our eternal sworn enemy= we hope to normalize the Korea-US relationship. The korea-U.S. relations will be developed in the interests of the people of the two countries, if the United States rids itself of the outdated idea of the Cold-War age, desists from approaching the Korean question with power politics and facilitates the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula." The paper introduced the content of the three charters of national reunification. It also carried the chronology of General Kim Jong Il. "General Secretary Kim Jong Il has presented many works concerning political, economic, military and cultural affairs," the paper said, introducing the titles of his major works.
