As someone who knows a few things about the alleged Armenian Genocide, I can tell you the Turks are fed up with being called denyers, that's almost worse for them than being called genocide perpetrators. First of all, it was the Armenians that committed genocide against the Turks, and not vice versa. What? Are you crazy? you will say. But yes, that is the truth. Check up on the Russians invading eastern Turkey and Armenians in arms. Now write down this word: Dashnak, then look it up.
The Dashnak people (bad Armenians) are the fathers of the Armenian strong-arm culture (yes, strong-arm culture, not like those old ladies crying their eyes out about rape and murder 100 years ago that they push on Congressional meetings and portray as the innocent ones). This culture reached a fever pitch in the 1970's when it was open season on anything Turkish, including high ranking diplomats and Ambassadors (including inside Canada). They bully, threaten, and lie their way to get anything they want, including making false Ottoman documents to "prove" genocide. Their typical approach to opposition is to call or e-mail them, and say things like "we know where you live, I know how old your children are" (and they do, they will tell you your address and information concerning your kids). This is how the Armenians got this far, bringing the issue to a vote in Congress, for crying out loud. Most friends and foes alike of the Armenian genocide lobby have either received death threats, veiled warnings, or something else to that effect. The next day, the target becomes an ally. Now you will say, "hold on a minute, what about the truth? We stand up for the truth." Well, it so happens that Turkey has opened ALL its new and ancient archives for complete analysis, nothing found such as "eliminate the pig race called Armenians, I don't want one left alive", as the Dashnaks are well-know to have uttered. And...
t so happens that Turkey has offered to join and international historians conference to dissect the historical facts in detail, and it has been rejected by Armenia and Armenians in general. It so happens that Turkey has asked Armenia to open up its national archives, to blunt refusals. It so happens that Turkey has called on the Dashnak group to open up its archives, (which are all locked up in Boston, Mass., of all places), to insistent refusal. And, it so happens that all the high-ranking Turkish officials DIRECTLY accused of war crimes were subjected to 2 YEARS of war crime tribunals on the island of Malta, following the war in 1917, and ALL were released when it was established beyond a reasonable doubt, that it was the Armenians who were the ones who were really guilty of ethnic cleansing and genocide (the official judgment: insufficient evidence, better than saying, wow, were we ever wrong on this one).
Now, after all this CONCLUSIVE evidence, how can you seriously say that Turkey is denying its past and is guilty of genocide? And why would you put them on trial twice, and on false premises to boot?
